Renewal Fees

Unincorporated Washoe County Business Licenses are renewed annually or quarterly depending on the type of business. Most businesses obtain general business and home-based business license that renew annually. Gaming and Liquor licenses renew quarterly.

General Business License: Annual Renewal Fees

All Washoe County General Business Licenses are valid for one year and are renewed annually. Fees are calculated based on gross receipts for the previous calendar year or the previous fiscal year. Gross receipts means, "the total sum or receipts for all business conducted in the unincorporated areas of Washoe County, without any deduction therefrom on account of the cost of property sold, the cost of materials used, labor or service costs, place of delivery of the property sold, interest paid or payable, losses or other expenses whatsoever."  The master business license fee schedule lists annual renewal fees based on annual gross receipts. The annual business license fee includes a $2.75 Regional Technology Fee.

  • If gross receipts are $25,000 or less, annual business license fee is $57.75
  • If gross receipts are $5,000,001 or more, annual business license fee is $657.75
  • Between gross receipts of $25,000 and $5,000,000 the annual business license fee increases by $10 for every increment of $25,000. 

General Business License - Rental, lease, sub-lease renewal fees: Any business renting, leasing, or sub-leasing any commercial or industrial property, or 3 or more residential units on one parcel, pays the $77.75 for their first year of operation. Following the first year, renewal fees are $57.75 if gross receipts remain under $100,000. For rentals with gross receipts greater that $100,001 calculate based on the master business license fee schedule as above

Gaming and Liquor: Quarterly Renewal Fees

Gaming and Liquor licenses renew quarterly. Quarterly renewals fees are a set fee established with estimate of quarterly gross receipts. To calculate your payments, reference the master business license fee schedule and contact businesslicense@washoecounty.gov.
