Regional Street Naming Committee
The Regional Street Naming Committee (RSNC) hears requests regarding the naming of un-named access easements or the changing of already established street names to some other name. These requests are submitted by a coordinator who receives them from developers, private citizens and others. The coordinator assures the proposed new names meet the criteria for such actions established by interlocal agreement. For the cities of Sparks and Reno, the RSNC is a recommending body, making recommendations to those city councils based on its findings. The city councils are the final authority for street name issues for their respective jurisdictions. In Washoe County the RSNC is that authority, with the Board of County Commissioners being the appellate body.
The RSNC is made up of representatives of Washoe County Community Services Department (WCCSD), the cities of Sparks and Reno Building Departments, 911 and other emergency response entities, the US Postal Service, utilities representatives and others.
