Fall 2019 Newsletter - District 1

Welcome from Commissioner Marsha Berkbigler:

Welcome to the first Washoe County Commissioner Connections. I am pleased to share with you the first eNewsletter, developed to keep you informed on important issues to us here in District 1, as well as the entire County.

Autumn is truly one of my favorite times of the year. The cool, crisp air, along with the changing of the leaves and local foliage is truly inspiring. I hope you can experience all that our region has to offer in the fall. Whether it is in the higher elevations of beautiful Lake Tahoe, or throughout the Truckee Meadows, make a point to get outdoors with your loved ones to hike, or stop by and visit one of the number of pumpkin patches and autumn festivals.

I also have some exciting news to share with you. On September 10, the Board of County Commissioners selected Eric Brown as the next Washoe County Manager. Mr. Brown is an innovative organizational leader with a diverse set of skills and experience who will start November 25. I am confident that he will take our County organization to the next level. Take a moment to read more about our new County Manager in the article below.

There is more good news when it comes to the future of Washoe County. As a member of the board of the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency, I am pleased to report that the 2019 Truckee Meadows Regional Plan was recently approved by all stakeholders. The plan is the most important tool we use to direct where growth will occur, identifies development constrained areas that are not suitable for future development, sets priorities for infrastructure development, and addresses natural resource management. View the plan here.

I encourage you to read the newsletter below to stay up-to-date on our local news and events. My hope is that you enjoy reading and find it to be a helpful resource. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can ever be of assistance.

Honored to serve,
Marsha Berkbigler
