Reason for seeking position:
I am running for Reno city Council because I love this place that my husband and I call home. We have lived in Ward 4 for over 32 years and raised our family here. My grandchildren and their parents live here in Ward 4 too! I served on the Stead/North Valleys Neighborhood Advisory for over 8 years and was appointed by the Mayor of Reno to the Commission on the Status of Women and served for 4 years, in the 90's. This is when I found my passion for serving my community. Living in the Stead area for so long I was so excited when Washoe County developed the North Valley Regional Sports Complex (NVRSC) and even joined and was asked by my peers to serve as Chairman of the Friends of the NVRSC. I realized that through these years of serving that the best way to make change in policy and my community was to be in elected office. So when I ran for and was elected as a Washoe County Commissioner in 2003, I made it my goal to work for each and every neighborhood in District 5 (with 5,600 sq mi) as if their neighborhood was my own. It was my commitment to the voters, that I worked for them! I have a proven record and experience that I will use on the Reno City Council. I will not have a second job because I am dedicated to doing a full-time job on the Reno City Council. We have a wonderful opportunity to welcome new businesses from across the nation here in Reno. Businesses bring jobs and prosperity to our friends and neighbors. We need to continue welcoming these new opportunities with open arms while preserving our sense of community.
If you believe in smaller government and look forward to a brighter tomorrow for Reno, then please vote for me, Bonnie Weber to represent you in Ward 4 on the Reno City Council. I promise to always work for you!
