Ash Can Program Update: 12/15/2016
Due to the cold weather, in addition to recent media coverage, Truckee Meadows Fire is proud to announce a surge in interest in the TMFPD Ash Can Program. The District has issued approximately 120 ash cans to Washoe County residents in the past week. As a result, this surge has depleted the District’s stock, and additional ash cans are currently on back order. Residents who do not want to be placed on a wait list will find ash cans available at most hardware stores for under $15.00. Residents who would like to be placed on our wait list for a free ash can may do so by submitting an Ash Can Application to the District. Those residents will be notified when ash cans are back in stock.
New fire restrictions take effect June 30, 2016.

Due to the condition of the fuels and predicted weather in the area, TMFPD WILL NOT be allowing open burning within the District for the fall season. Burn permits will not be issued for the fall season. It is unlawful to burn debris without a valid burn permit. Please check back with us in February 2017 for information on the possibility for open burning in the spring.
