The programs and resources listed are not Washoe County programs and are in no way affiliated with Washoe County.  Instead, they are resources Washoe County has become aware of and providing the information to the community.  Washoe County in no way endorses or recommends the use of any identified program.
Washoe County has not performed background check on the volunteers, employees, or other individuals participating in any identified program.  The use of any service listed is at your own risk.  Washoe County urges the individual to contact the identified program or resource with any questions regarding the personnel involved in the specific program to allow the individual to make an informed decision with regard to use of any program.

Shopping

 

Many local grocery stores are offering Senior Hours.
Please know, they could be subject to change.
 
  • Big Lots is reserving the first hour of each day for seniors. Locations in Reno, Sparks and Carson City open at 9 a.m.  daily.
  • Dollar General is reserving the first hour of each day for "the most susceptible customers." Reno area locations open at 8 a.m. daily.
  • Great Basin Community Food Co-op will have senior hours between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.
  • Safeway is open from 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for "vulnerable shoppers."
  • Save Mart is open from 6 to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and guests with compromised health.
  • Smart and Final is open for seniors, customers with disabilities, and pregnant women from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Smith's is open for seniors from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays
  • Target is open for seniors from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Wednesdays
  • Walmart is open for seniors from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Tuesdays
  • Raley's is offering curbside pickup for prescriptions, and is selling Senior Essentials Bags curbside and in-store for a discounted price. The $20 bags include nonperishable staples and fresh fruit; $35 bags include ready-to-eat meals.
Shopping Angels, strives to provide seniors and other high risk individuals with access to free grocery deliver during this time.  They currently have volunteers and clients in all fifty states.
