Kleiner Hardwood Grove

Arboretum fall color

Midwestern and eastern native deciduous hardwood trees grace the south-facing slope along Evans Creek wetlands. This is one of the most diverse, interesting and primitive areas of the Arboretum. There you can find shingle oaks, sawtooth oaks and many eastern species including buckeyes. If you follow the upper trails you will be greeted with panoramic views of Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, the Truckee Meadows and the Sierra Nevada mountain range at Irwin's Overlook and Lear Garden.
