Washoe County is seeking applicants to serve on the Washoe County Planning Commission
Vacancy is to represent Commission District 1 on the Planning Commission

The Washoe County Planning Commission hears and decides on applications for abandonments, certain special use permits, and tentative subdivisions; the Commission also makes recommendations concerning the County’s Master Plan, regulatory zone changes, and County’s land use regulations.  This appointment is to fill a partial term in the unincorporated portion of Washoe County Commission District 1 commencing on the date of appointment through June 30, 2022.  Unincorporated District 1 generally includes Incline Village and Crystal Bay, most of the Southwest Truckee Meadows area and portions of the Forest area along the west side of Mt. Rose Highway.

Membership Requirements

Applicants for the Planning Commission must be residents of unincorporated Washoe County and the area from which they are to be appointed (District 1) as described above and per map link: https://www.washoecounty.us/bcc/files/commission_district_map_2019.pdf.  They must also be registered voters.  The voter registration requirement may be waived by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners.  The Planning Commission regularly meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Washoe County Commission Chambers.  Meetings average 2 to 3 hours in duration.  At times, special meetings of the Commission may be called by the Chair.  Each member of the Planning Commission is compensated $80 per meeting attended.
