Reno, Nev. Nov. 4, 2019. The Reno Rodeo Foundation’s 13th annual Denim Drive returns Nov. 11 through Dec. 31 to collect new clothing items and financial donations to support abused and neglected infants, children and teens who have been rescued from unsafe homes. The organization is celebrating with a Kick-off Party on Nov. 9 at Revision Brewery.
“Whether it’s a financial or clothing donation or you are helping these children in so many ways,” said Jeff Turnipseed, President of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. “Our Kick-off Party is a great way for people to make an impact, learn more about the Denim Drive and kick up your heels a little.”
The Kick-off Party, presented by Nevada State Bank, is set for Saturday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Revision Brewery for adults 21 and over. K-Bull’s DJ Bob Richards will provide the tunes while Cherry on Top Entertainment will lead the line dancing. The first 100 attendees who donate $10 cash or equal value of new children’s clothes, will receive a Famous Dave’s slider, coleslaw and homemade chips. They’ll also be entered into a drawing for the chance to win two 2020 Reno Rodeo tickets.
During the Denim Drive more than 100 locations throughout all 14 Northern Nevada counties will host donation bins to collect new jeans, new socks, new shirts and new underwear. An interactive map with all donation locations can be accessed on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website at RenoRodeoFoundation.org.
Donors can also donate a “Dollar for Denim” at Famous Dave’s, Plumas Bank and all Papa Murphy’s locations and Nevada State Bank branches through Northern Nevada.
“The monetary donations make a tremendous impact because we can purchase clothes in specific sizes to fill specific needs,” explained Clara Andriola, Reno Rodeo Foundation executive director. “One-hundred percent of every dollar donated is used to purchase additional new clothing and items throughout the year to provide comfort to children. Some of these children are beginning their foster care journey or are attending family court proceedings in Northern Nevada Family District Courts. By donating, you are providing them a sense of comfort and are showing them that someone does care for them.”
Donors can also make monetary donations online on the Reno Rodeo Foundation website in addition to making donations over the phone or by mailing a check to the Reno Rodeo Foundation. Clothing and other items are distributed throughout the year by the Reno Rodeo volunteers, in partnership with the Washoe County Human Services Agency and the Nevada State Department of Child and Family Services.
Numerous businesses also support the Denim Drive including top sponsors Famous Dave’s, Nevada State Bank, Revel Rancharrah, Sierra Air and Tri Sage Consulting.
