Washoe County Library System Launches New Makerspace

Reno, Nev. Aug. 13, 2018. Washoe County Library System is thrilled to announce the grand opening of The QUAD, a new dedicated makerspace at the Downtown Reno Library. The Quad is designed to allow the community to gather and get creative with DIY projects, exploration, and discovery. 

WHAT:   The QUAD, Makerspace:  Grand Opening Reception

WHEN:  10:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018

WHERE: Downtown Reno Library, 4th Floor, 301 South Center Street, Reno NV 89501

The QUAD will contain equipment, hardware and software that the public can use free of charge to create and learn. The QUAD is on level 4 of the Downtown Reno Library and is available for the public to learn new technology, learn more about science and practice artistic expression. 

“We are creating a space for patrons to experiment with all kinds of new technologies and tools to create and invent,” according to Library Director Jeff Scott. “By opening this new makerspace we can also help students acquire the skills needed for the 21st century.”

Washoe County Library System strives to provide enriching opportunities for people to learn new skills and collaborate. The QUAD will provide access to a variety of tools and specialized equipment that allow patrons to create, invent, and learn that can be used by anyone!

The QUAD Makerspace at the Downtown Reno Library will be open to the public every Thursday beginning August 23 from 3 – 6:00 PM.  For more information please visit www.washoecountylibrary.us/makers.
