Reno, Nev. June 13, 2018. The hot summer is here! Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) encourages Washoe County residents to reduce the risk of wildfires in the Truckee Meadows. Take advantage of tomorrow’s (Saturday, June 23) Green Waste Collection Day from 8 a.m. to noon and dispose of dry and dead vegetation, shrubs, tree branches, and other wildland fuels in an effort to create a defensible space to protect homes and property for wildfires. Additionally, green waste is reduced to compost and helps air quality levels as an alternative to burning.
Items can be dropped off at two Truckee Meadows Fire Stations.
