Reno, Nev. Oct. 2, 2017. "It is with heartfelt sadness that we reach out to our colleagues and friends in Southern Nevada this morning, after a gunman opened fire on a group of Americans enjoying a Sunday evening concert in Las Vegas last night. From all of us in Washoe County, and on behalf of the Board of Commissioners, we stand with the communities of Clark County and City Las Vegas.

Washoe County is ready to assist with needed resources during the response and recovery in the aftermath of this senseless act of violence.

Should you feel compelled, one way to help assist the victims from this mass shooting incident is to donate blood at United Blood Services in Reno. We spoke with staff there this morning, and if you are interested, they are asking the community to please schedule an appointment sometime this week.

God bless all of the victims, families and first responders, we stand with you as fellow Nevadans."

Bob Lucey, Washoe County Commission Chair
