Library Board of Trustees Approve New Convenient Hours
New Permanent Hours at the Verdi Community Library and Nature Center and Temporary Summer Hours at the Duncan/Traner Community Library.

At the May 17, 2017 Library Board of Trustees meeting, the Trustees unanimously approved the recommendation to change hours at the Verdi Community Library and Nature Center.  They also approved special summer hours at the Duncan/Traner Community Library.

Effective June 6, 2017, the Verdi Community Library and Nature Center will be open on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Washoe County Library System Director Jeff Scott states “Revising the public hours and adding another day to the week allow the Library System to provide better access to library resources for students, parents or guardians, and the community.”   Scott continued, “The change in hours allows more programming opportunities like Coding Camps, Build It or game times, and story times and craft times on a regular basis. The Verdi Library will also have the ability to offer some adult programming, which has not been offered on a regular basis during the past several years.”

Effective June 12 through August 3, the Duncan/Traner Community Library will be open Monday through Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Scott further states, “Trustees approved a temporary shift in hours at the Duncan/Traner Library to better accommodate neighborhood children during the summer months when school is out.”
