Reno, Nevada. Dec. 22, 2014. The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and Goat Grazers have partnered to help the residents of Truckee Meadows recycle their Christmas trees.
The goal of the tree recycle program is to keep old Christmas trees out of the landfill, reduce illegal dumping and reduce fire danger. Residents may bring their all natural, unflocked, tinsel, ornament and hook free tree to several TMFPD fire stations throughout the area from Dec. 26 through Jan. 9, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Trees will be accepted at the following TMFPD fire stations:
- Station 13 at Stead
- Station 17 at Spanish Springs
- Station 18 at Cold Springs
- Station 35 at Verdi
- Station 37 at Hidden Valley
- Station 39 at Galena
- Station 310 at Bellevue and West Washoe Valley
Only natural trees will be accepted and only during the dates specified.
Goat Grazers weed and fire management goats will recycle the used trees and reduce the fire threat caused by improper management of fire prone vegetative materials. No additional vegetative material will be accepted for recycle.
