The Department of Juvenile Services provides probation services to all youth who have been placed under a court ordered supervision status. There are three main types of supervision that are monitored by our department:
- Formal Probation
- Deferred Status
- Supervision & Consent Decree
Probation status is determined by the court based on assessments, evaluations, circumstances of the case, offenses charged and family dynamics, all of which are presented to the court at the youth’s hearing. This in turn, determines which unit and Probation Officer will handle the case once supervision is ordered.
Once a youth is placed on a supervision status, the Probation Officer assigned to that youth will help the youth and family put into place the programming, counseling or other sanctions required in the court order as well as monitoring the juvenile’s progress to ensure compliance.
