Welcome to the 2021 Annual Open Enrollment Benefits website!

This page contains informaiton about benefits and changes for 2021. Information about 2020 benefits may be found on the main Retiree Health Benefits website.

Open Enrollment is an annual opportunity for retirees to review and make changes to their health benefits for the upcoming calendar year.

During Open Enrollment, you may:

  • Change your health plan
  • Add/delete dependents
  • Enroll HMO dependents in the GAP Plan

**IMPORTANT**

Effective January 1, 2021, CDS Group Health will no longer be contracted with Washoe County.

What does this mean?

  • Self-funded PPO and HDHP will be offered through Hometown Health only
  • Hometown Health Network has been expanded to include St. Mary's Medical Center, St. Mary's Medical Group and St. Mary's Urgent Care as in-network providers for Washoe County members
  • Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center remains in-network
  • Northern Nevada Medical Center and Northern Nevada Medical Group will be non-contracted, out-of-network providers on both the PPO and HDHP
  • For retirees/dependents residing outside of Nevada, network change from First Health network to PHCS network
  • NOTE: All retirees currently enrolled in the St. Mary's PPO or HDHP, must change their health plan by completing a Retiree Health Insurance Enrollment form and returning it to Human Resources no later than December 4, 2020.

 2021 Health Plan Changes

Listed below are the health plan changes for 2021. Please review completely to make an informed decision for you and your family.

High Deductible Health Plan

  • Premium Change* - see chart below
  • Increase Annual Individual Deductibe $2,600/Family Deductible $2,950
  • Increase Annual Individual Out-of-Pocket in-network $5,250/out-of-network $10,500
  • Increase Annual Family Out-of-Pocket in-network $6,350/out-of-network $10,750
  • Mandatory Mail Order for Maintenance Medications
  • Domestic Partner children eligible covered dependent

PPO Plan

  • Premium Change* - see chart below
  • Increase Annual Individual Deductibe $375/Family Deductible $750
  • Increase Annual Individual Out-of-Pocket in-network $3,450/out-of-network $6,575
  • Increase Annual Family Out-of-Pocket in-network $6,900/out-of-network $13,350
  • Mandatory Mail Order for Maintenance Medications
  • Domestic Partner children eligible covered dependent

 HMO Plan

  • No Plan changes for 2021
  • Domestic Partner children eligible covered dependent

Medicare Advantage Plan

Premium Rates

Effective January 1, 2021, there will be a premium rate increase for Washoe County's PPO, HDHP, HMO and Medicare Advantage Plans. *Rates do not reflect Washoe County paid benefit.

What do you need to do?

  1. Discover your options and learn about the different health plans offered at Washoe County: Plan on attending a virtual Open Enrollment meeting.
  2. Consider the costs associated with each plan: Review the premium rates for 2021 and the Medical Plan Comparison.
  3. Compare plans by reviewing the Summary of Benefits for each plan offered: PPO, HDHP and HMO
  4. Locate network providers on Hometown Health's website for PPO, HDHP, Dental and Vision providers; Prominence Health Plan for HMO providers
  5. Review/update your life insurance beneficiary information. You may update your beneficiary designation at anytime, but open enrollment is a great time to review and update.
  6. LAST STEP - ACTION REQUIRED: If you plan to make a change to your health plan selection or add/remove dependents, you will need to complete a Retiree Health Insurance Enrollment form. Return the form to Washoe County Human Resources, 1001 East Ninth Street, Reno, NV 89512 by December 4, 2020.

If you do not wish to make any changes for 2021, you do not need to complete an enrollment form. You will automatically be re-enrolled in your current plan.
