  • In a society where smoking rates are decreasing, more travelers would appreciate staying in a hotel/motel free of secondhand and thirdhand smoke found in carpets, walls, and bedding.
  • In 2015, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority reported that 37% of visitors had overnight accommodations at a non-gaming hotel/motel or rental/timeshare compared to staying at a Reno Downtown Commercial Gaming hotel.
  • Per the NCIAA, certain exemptions have been passed to allow smoking in casinos, stand-alone bars that do not allow minors, and outdoor areas of restaurants, limiting leisure and activities for those who want to be in a smoke-free environment.
