Mark Covington has been serving as Chief of the Investigations / Victim Services division since January, 2013. Mark began his career with the University of Nevada, Reno Police Department as a campus security officer. He was hired as a reserve police officer in 1991 and then as a full-time officer in 1992. Mark left the UNR police in 1998 to begin working as a DA Investigator. He was promoted to supervisor in 2008 and to Chief Investigator in 2013.
Mark earned a BA in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno. He also holds basic, intermediate, advanced, supervisory and management certification from the Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (POST). He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the Nevada Sheriff’s and Chief’s Association (NSCA).
Mark and his division are committed to serving the citizens of Washoe County by fairly and effectively assisting in the prosecution of criminals and providing support to the victims of crime.
