What Do You Think About Housing?

Washoe County and the cities of Reno and Sparks are conducting an Analysis of Impediments (AI) to Fair Housing. This HUD-required study examines public and private practices that create barriers, or impediments, to fair housing choice of members of protected classes under the federal and state Fair Housing Acts. We would like your opinion and experience to inform this important study.

Two public meetings are planned, one in Sparks and one in Reno. See details below. At each meeting, a brief presentation of preliminary results will be followed by a facilitated discussion.

Discussion topics will include: What has been your experience with housing in recent years? Have you ever felt discriminated against when trying to rent or buy housing in the area? Do you feel that the area where you live has the same access to community amenities like parks, libraries and good schools as other parts of the community? If you use public transportation, can you get to the places you need to go?
