Fall 2019 Newsletter - District 4

Welcome from Commissioner Vaughn Hartung:

Welcome to the first Washoe County Commissioner Connections. I am pleased to share with you the first eNewsletter, developed to keep you informed on important issues to us here in District 4, as well as the entire County.

Autumn is truly one of my favorite times of the year, as the temperatures finally begin to drop, and the leaves and local foliage change colors. It is also the time of the year to take necessary precautions from the cold. I recommend having your furnace checked by a licensed professional. If you use your fireplace often, you most likely need a chimney inspection to make sure there are no hazards capable of starting a fire. Fireplaces can produce creosote which has the capability of igniting. And finally, make sure you dispose of ashes from the fireplace or wood burning stove properly using an ash can. You can pick up an ash can at a local hardware retailer, or contact the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District while supplies last.

I also want to share some exciting news. On September 10, the Board of County Commissioners selected Eric Brown as the next Washoe County Manager. Mr. Brown is an innovative organizational leader with a diverse set of skills and experience who will start November 25. I am confident that he will take our County organization to the next level. Take a moment to read more about our new County Manager in the article below.

I hope you and your family can get out and experience some of the wonderful pumpkin patches and autumn festivals in the Spanish Springs and Sparks area this fall.
