Additional tips for pet owners with questions about COVID-19:

  • According to the CDC, there is no evidence to suggest that pets can spread COVID-19 to humans.

  • People with confirmed COVID-19 should avoid contact with other people as well as pets
  • Pet owners should have a preparedness plan in place in the event that they become ill and are unable to care for their pets - Click here
    • Ensure that your pets are up to date on all vaccines recommended by their veterinarian
    • Prepare a crate and any special food or medications
    • Ensure that your pet is wearing up to date identification
    • Research potential boarding facilities and requirements for boarding at each of those facilities or designate an alternate caretaker for your animal(s). Click here for more information
  • Wash your hands often
  • IF a person is sick with COVID-19, contact with animals should be restricted, just like human contact should also be. 
  • There is currently NOT a COVID-19 vaccine available for animals.
