Local Government Oversight Committee (LGOC)
LGOC Meetings: Usually held on the second Thursday of each month at Sparks City Hall as specifically noticed in posted agendas (LGOC Document Archive).
Purpose of LGOC: To make water rights purchases on behalf of Reno, Sparks and Washoe County pursuant to the Truckee River Water Quality Settlement Agreement dated October 10, 1996 between Reno, Sparks, Washoe County, the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, the United States Department of Justice, the United States Department of the Interior, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Membership: Members of the LGOC comprise a representative from each of the City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County. The managers of each of these local governments appoint their respective members of the LGOC.
Typical Duties: Approve water rights purchases and other related actions pursuant to the terms of the Truckee River Water Quality Settlement Agreement and the Interlocal Agreement among the three entities.
Meetings: The Local Government Oversight Committee normal meetings are generally held on the second Thursday of the month in the afternoon at Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way in Sparks. For specific meeting times and locations: LGOC Document Archive
