Adoption Fee Schedule

The adoption fee reimburses the Department for the cost of providing services to individuals desiring to adopt non-special needs children. N.R.S. 127.275 authorizes Washoe County to charge adoption fees for adoption services provided by the Department. The fees, by regulation, cannot discriminate against any prospective applicant with a low income.

For specific adoptions, the fees are charged to prospective adoptive families who reside in or out of state. In-state adoption services include the services to the birth mother/father, the necessary home study for the adoptive family, placement services, the post-placement supervision and necessary reports to the court. For interstate adoptions, the services offered include all the above-mentioned services appropriate to the parties residing in Nevada plus reports to ICPC and post-placement reports and/or legal work for the receiving state.

All fees are waived for adoption of Special Needs children in the custody of WCDSS.
