Sierra Fire Proudly Presents........ P.R.I.D.E.
Preparing Residents In Disaster Evacuations
What is P.R.I.D.E.?
P.R.I.D.E., Preparing Residents in Disaster Evacuations, is a collaborative effort that engages both the public and those agencies who would be impacted in the event of an emergency evacuation. In the past four years, the P.R.I.D.E. Program has successfully led to the involvement of over 30 different cooperating agencies and the training of over 6,000 residents in our high-risk communities. In May 2009, Sierra Fire Protection District successfully and efficiently conducted the largest evacuation drill in the United States, titled "The Grizzly Fire." See video coverage on The Grizzly Fire.
By practicing evacuation drills with residents and emergency agencies, everyone will be educated and know what to do to avoid chaos in the event of an actual disaster. Click on the "Why P.R.I.D.E." link above to develop a P.R.I.D.E. Program in your area.
