A cousin of the Manzanita, this wide spreading woody ground cover shares some of
its physical traits and geographical ranges. They both have a red-purple color
to the bark and a leathery texture to their leaves. Kinnikinnick also bears
pink-white flowers and a hard,tart fruit. Due to the nature of the fruit, it often remains edible through the winter. In addition, this plant is generally known as an astringent |
