Update 7 p.m.: Commissioners submit nominees for vacant Washoe County legislative seats
Reno, Nevada. Sept. 21, 2016. The Board of County Commissioners submitted their nominees for filling the three, vacant legislative seats in Washoe County. Those names have been placed on the agenda for the Board of County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, where there will be discussion to appoint an individual for each of the following legislative seats: Nevada State Senate Districts 13 and 15, as well as Nevada State Assembly District 25.

County Manager John Slaughter received requests from 28 people vying for the vacant seats. The Washoe County Registrar of Voters Department vetted the 28 individuals and determined that 18 were eligible, according to Item 3 of NRS 218.260. The individuals who were deemed ineligible, per NRS, were either not a member of the same political party or a resident of the same district as the former legislator of that district.

Reno, Nevada. Sept. 21, 2016. The Office of the County Manager received additional requests from individuals seeking a nomination for one of three vacant legislative seats in Washoe County.
The Board of County Commissioners will discuss filling the three, vacant state legislative seats in Washoe County for Nevada State Senate Districts 13 and 15, as well as Nevada State Assembly District 25 at the Board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at 10 a.m.
Each commissioner will provide one nominee for each vacant legislative district seat in Washoe County by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Individuals interested in being considered for nomination can contact the Washoe County Commissioners online or contact the Manager’s Office by calling 775-328-2000.
