Test your skills in the Truckee Meadows Treasure Hunt
Photo scavenger hunt to 200 plus parks, trails, and open spaces in Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County.

Reno, Nevada. May 15, 2015. Washoe County Parks and Open Space is teaming with the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation (TMPF) to host the Quail Quest Truckee Meadows Treasure Hunt. The Hunt will take place Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 8 a.m. The Hunt starts and ends at the TMPF office in Idlewild Park at 50 Cowan Drive.

Registered teams ($50 a team - 5 people per team, extra team members are $10/person) will be handed a long list of clues and be sent on their way to explore their parks and accrue as many points as possible. Clues will vary from "easy" to "extremely difficult" which may require some research. Each clue will have a different point value and extra points will be given for certain clues. In order to gain points for a clue, a team must find the item/place and take a picture with every team member in the photo (minus the photographer, unless they prefer selfies!). The team must then tag the photo appropriately (team name, clue number, tagging TMPF) and post it to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or email it to TMPF. Photos can also be submitted through a digital camera memory card at the end of the day. There will be meet-ups throughout the day at various parks as well! The TMPF team will be at the office monitoring tweets, posts, and maintaining a live track of all the scores. Teams will also keep a written log to serve as a backup scorecard.

The Hunt ends at 5 p.m. when teams will return to the TMPF office. The picnic will begin followed by an award ceremony! There will be food trucks, beverages (free beer!), and live bands at the picnic. The team with the most points will win the grand prize, with second and third place prizes as well. Smaller prizes may be awarded for fun categories such as best team costumes and best team name.
