A call for volunteers to a community cleanup
Help cleanup Rancho San Rafael's off-leash dog area.

Reno, Nevada. March 4, 2015. The popular, multi-use pasture area located on the southwestern portion of Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, also commonly known as the “off-leash” dog area, is a beloved and treasured area for Reno dog owners. With the unseasonably warm winter days, the pasture has seen increased levels of usage and is ready for a good grooming. In addition to the neglected dog waste, the pasture entrances could use a little extra attention before spring officially arrives.

Join Rancho San Rafael’s Park Rangers and the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation for a morning of pasture beautification. The cleanup will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by a guided hike courtesy of Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation at approximately 11:30 a.m. Meet at the parking lot of the upper pasture entrance on Saturday, March 14. Plastic bags, latex gloves, and any other supplies will be provided.

“Rancho San Rafael is a beautiful and popular park in my district and it is everybody’s responsibility to make sure it stays that way,” said Washoe County Commission Vice-Chair Kitty Jung, District 3. “I call on the public to come out, pitch in and have some fun at one of the best places to enjoy the outdoors.”

Don’t forget your four legged friends! Also, a representative from Washoe County Regional Animal Services will be available to answer any questions and provide information about microchipping.
