Background: On January 22, 2007, the Washoe County Commission appointed members to a Citizen Committee to work with Washoe County staff to prepare draft ordinances to provide more efficient and effective enforcement tools and regulate nuisances in unincorporated Washoe County. A Town Hall Meeting was held on February 7, 2007 and the Committee began its work on February 15, 2007. A year and a half later, on August 28, 2008, the Citizen Committee approved a Committee Approved Draft Administrative Enforcement Ordinance and a Committee Approved Draft Nuisance Ordinance. The Washoe County Commission adopted the Administrative Enforcement Code on September 8, 2009. The Code was effective on September 18, 2009. Click on the links below for the Code, a summary of the process, and the fee schedule.
The Washoe County Commission did not adopt the Nuisance Ordinance on October 27, 2009. The Commission gave direction on modifications to the ordinance. The ordinance will return to the Commission for first reading on December 8, 2009 and for a second reading/possible adoption on January 12, 2010.
