Improve Public Safety, Security and Health
Truckee River Flood Management Project
In the closing Special Session of the Legislature, $5 million in funding was approved statewide for stream restoration, which the Truckee River Flood Project will be happy to apply for to help with this critical project. Many thanks to the County, City, and state officials as well as legislators and U.S. Senator Harry Reid whose tireless effort secured needed funds for the project.

Hidden Vally Flood Control
Early implementation project (TRAction project) of the Truckee River Flood Project has been approved for design, and representatives of the Flood Project and Washoe County Public Works met with about 50 Hidden Valley residents to discuss flood mitigation options for their area. Future meetings will be held to refine and finalize the community’s preferred approach to addressing flooding in their area. The City of Sparks has selected the relocation of the North Truckee Dam as their TRAction project and the City of Reno is still finalizing the decision on their TRAction project.

Washoe County’s Bartley Ranch/Robert Hawkins Amphitheater Summer Concert Series Opens
The summer concert season at Bartley Ranch opened Saturday, June 2nd, with a concert by Guy Clark.

Improve Regional Collaboration
Washoe County Telecomunications, NDOT And Nevada Dept. Of Information Technology (DOIT) Team Up
The three agencies have collaborated in the preparation of a Request For Proposal for Communications Interoperability Engineering to facilitate a statewide network of repeater sites. This effort will improve radio interoperability for various emergency first responder agencies in Nevada by providing a common radio platform throughout Nevada.

Washoe County Technology Services GIS Division Partnering On Geographics Database
This cooperative project will eliminate redundancy in work on street centerlines data, which supports school bus routing. In addition, the GIS Division is working with RTC and NDOT in searching for ways to develop an “intelligent” street database.

Develop our Workforce
Senior Services Director Announces Her Transition
Marietta Bobba, Washoe County Senior Services Director, has resigned to address personal concerns and return to the Seattle area. Tricia Capello is being recommended as Acting Director pending a recruiting and selection process for a new permanent director. The entire community thanks Marietta for her vision and accomplishments in improving the lives of seniors in Washoe County.
