Washoe County Solid Waste Management Plan

Purpose

The Washoe County Solid Waste Management Plan (The Plan) is a document produced by the Washoe County Health District that discusses local solid waste disposal. It covers topics such as garbage service, household hazardous waste, public outreach programs, recycling services, waste-to-energy technology, illegal dumping, etc. The Plan paints a picture of how solid waste is managed in Washoe County, both strong and weak points of services and describes new technologies or management tools for improvements. The Plan was officially adopted by the District Board of Health at their October 27, 2011 meeting and approved by the State of Nevada Department of Conservation & Natural Resources, Division of Environmental Protection on December 6, 2011.
