Guidelines for Preventing the Transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Health-Care Settings, 2005
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) publishes guidelines for TB infection control based on a risk assessment process in health care facilities. The updated 2005 Guidelines were expanded to address additional health care settings such as outpatient facilities, correctional health care and emergency services, labs and home health programs.
As part of the assessment, local data is required for accurate risk determination. The Washoe District Health Department (WDHD) Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Program is pleased to provide information on the epidemiology of TB in Washoe County. In addition, Public Health Nurses (PHNs) with expertise in TB control are available for technical assistance and consultation as Infection Control staff prepares their Infection Control plans.
