Childcare workers in Washoe County are required to take a class in the prevention and control of communicable diseases in the child care setting that is taught or approved by the Washoe County Health District within 90 days from their hire date per Washoe County Department of Social Services Regulations for Child Care Facilities. In Washoe County, childcare workers must repeat the class every 3 years. [This class meets the requirements for 'Signs and Symptoms of Illness', but not 'First Aid' training for Child Care Providers.]

What's In It For Me?
- Identify the most important ways to prevent spread of disease in the child care setting, including proper hand washing and diapering.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of common communicable diseases seen in child care settings.
- Identify ways diseases are spread.
- Know when to exclude children and staff.
- Meet the regulatory requirements for training in Signs of Illness as a childcare worker.
When Is It?
Classes are offered Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on the following dates:
Winter-Spring 2012 class schedule:
- May 15 - The May 15, 2012 class has been moved and is now at the Washoe County Complex on 9th and Wells Avenue, Building B, Conference Room B.

How Do I Sign Up?
Space is limited so please sign up early to ensure that you are able to complete the requirements. Cost is $23 per participant and must be turned in with your registration form.
