After being hired by Mills Lane serving 10 years as a Deputy District Attorney and Chief Deputy District Attorney, Richard A. "Dick" Gammick was elected the Washoe County District Attorney in 1994, taking office January, 1995. Dick has been reelected in 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010 . Dick was a Reno Police Officer, a Major in the United States Army, with a combat tour in Vietnam, and Nevada Army National Guard, and a legal advisor for the Reno Police Department as a Deputy Reno City Attorney. Dick has a B.S. from UNR in Accounting and a law degree from McGeorge School of Law. A Nevada Native from Elko, he married a lady from Texas in 1968 while serving on active duty in the U.S. Army as an Aviator. Dick and Norma raised a son and a daughter and have two grandchildren.

Dick Gammick is on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and the Reno Rodeo where he serves as the Advertising/Marketing Chair. He is also on the Special Kids Rodeo Committee. Recently, Dick has joined the board of the Nevada Military Support Alliance, an organization dedicated to helping soldiers and their families with a wide variety of issues. Dick also served as President for the Rotary Club of Reno as well as two-time President of the Nevada District Attorney's Association.
