The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has completed resource management plans (RMPs) for the Eagle Lake and Surprise Field Offices that manage public lands in northern Washoe County.

The BLM Winnemucca field office (WFO) is preparing its RMP.  The WFO manages approximately 7,260,001 acres of public lands in the northwest portion of Nevada and approximately 762,059 acres in northern Washoe County.  This area includes the Smoke Creek Desert and the lands surrounding Gerlach and Empire.

It is anticipated that a draft plan will be released for the required 90-day public review.  Further information can be found at http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/wfo/blm_information/rmp.html.
