Meet Amy Harvey

Meet Amy Harvey, Washoe County Clerk. Amy's first term began January 5, 1999 and she was re-elected to a fourth term, beginning January of 2011. She has had a notable career in county government. Amy gained her knowledge and experience of the county departments, legal community, and court system while she worked as an administrative assistant to a Second Judicial District Court Judge for six years. Amy also has a strong business background from many years spent in private industry. She owned and operated Amy's Flowers for five years in Sparks and she and her husband Clif have had CH Harvey Construction Company for over 25 years. Amy and Clif have two children and two grandchildren.

Governor Jim Gibbons recently appointed Amy to the State Historical Records Advisory Board on July 1, 2007 where she hopes to expand her knowledge and expertise regarding historical records and further her goal of protecting the many historical documents in her custody for the citizens of Washoe County. Amy also was appointed as a Commissioner to the Sparks Centennial Commission by Mayor Tony Armstrong and is a past member of the Star Spangled Sparks Fourth of July Celebration Committee for the Sparks Chamber of Commerce.

Amy is a committed member of leading community organizations including: Republican Women of Reno, Sparks Republican Women's Club, 20th Century Club, Builders Association of Northern Nevada, and Women's Council Builders Association of Northern Nevada. In addition, Amy is an Advisory Board member of the Angel Kiss Foundation and a past board member and secretary of the Washoe County Courthouse Historical and Preservation Society. As secretary of the Historical and Preservation Society, she was instrumental in publishing an informative keepsake booklet on the history and restoration of the courthouse.

Amy is enthusiastic about the challenges of serving Washoe County. Among her current projects is a searchable database for Marriage License applications, as well as making other services available on the World Wide Web. She also filed a Petition in the Nevada State Supreme Court requesting clarification regarding the Clerk of the Court in Washoe County. A decision was rendered in October of 2001.
