The Board oversees the permitting process for residents who either want to own exotic animals or a number of animals in excess of the limit established by Washoe County Code.The board considers applications and its recommendation for approval or denial is provided to the Board of County Commissioners.
The board is comprised of seven members; one from each commission district; one who has qualifications demonstrating knowledge in the care of and supervision of exotic animals; one representative of a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Members are appointed by the County Commission to a four-year term and may serve unlimited terms.
The board meets the second Tuesday of every month.

We're looking for volunteers!
Washoe County is seeking individuals interested in serving on the Washoe County Animal Control Board (WCACB) to fill a four year term. Current openings are in commission district one, district three and one at large animal welfare group. Appointments will be made at the June 17, 2014 Board of County Commissioners meeting.
Persons applying should be sufficiently experienced in business, real estate, homeowner associations or animal expertise to bring knowledge and sound judgment to the deliberations of the board, and have the ability to read and analyze detailed documents and statements
The Board of County Commissioners will make their appointments on Tuesday June 17, 2014, but applications received after the deadline of April 28, 2014 may be considered for alternate positions if they become available.
