Washoe Fire - What to Do and Who to Contact

To our citizens impacted by the Washoe Fire, the Washoe County Department of Building & Safety extends its deepest sympathy for all who have suffered loss.  For help with rebuilding or repairing your homes or other structures please contact our Building & Safety Department with any questions regarding the removal of debris, the permitting process to repair or rebuild, or just general questions at (775) 328-2020.  We will do our best to ensure a simple and timely transition to help get you back into your homes.

Initial Return to Your Homes:

Residents who have been allowed to re-enter their previously evacuated areas should be aware that building officials will, or may have placed placards on affected homes.

Red Placard:  It is NOT safe to enter (Call 211)
Yellow Placard:  You may enter with extreme caution.  If you smell gas, immediately exit your home and call you gas provider (NV Energy/SouthWest Gas/LP Provider) with a cell phone away from the house.
Green Placard:  Entry is allowed; however if you see any unsafe conditions please report it to the local authorities.
