REPORTING A WELFARE COMPLAINT

Washoe County Ordinance 55.140 - Cruelty to Animals
It is unlawful for any person to overdrive, overload, torture or cruelly beat, or unjustifiably injure, maim, mutilate, poison, or kill any animal whether belonging to himself or to another, or deprive any animal of necessary sustenance, food, drink or shelter, or willfully instigate, engage in, or in any way further an act of cruelty to any animal, or any act to produce such cruelty.

If you are reporting welfare issues such as; neglect, abandonement, unsanitary conditions, animals without food, water or shelter, dogs tethered for more than 14 hours a day, or other welfare concerns, please include the following information:

• Location of the animal (street address)
• Description of the animal (white poodle, brown horse)
• The nature of the problem (neglect, no shelter etc.)
• How long you have noticed the problem.
